Meanwhile, Prigozhin intensified his criticism of Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu, alleging that Russia went to war “for the self-promotion of a group of individuals.”
He held Russia’s military leadership responsible for “poor planning” of the invasion and the military’s subsequent embarrassments following a series of setbacks on the battlefield last year.
“Shoigu caused the deaths of thousands of highly trained Russian soldiers in the initial days of the conflict,” he accused.
“The mentally unstable individuals decided, ‘It’s fine, we’ll sacrifice a few thousand more Russian men as cannon fodder. They will perish under artillery fire, but we will achieve our goals,'” Prigozhin continued.
“That is why the war has dragged on for so long.”
Prigozhin also accused oligarchs with ties to the Kremlin of seeking to exploit Ukraine’s resources following the military occupation and the installation of a puppet regime in Kyiv.
